If you have nowhere safe to stay, contact the local authority now

Ask for the homeless or emergency accommodation service. Outside office hours, use the council's published emergency route. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 112 or 999.

Do not wait for an online form if you and your family have nowhere safe tonight.

Ask the council about every suitable accommodation option

Travellers may choose standard social housing, private rented or assisted housing, or Traveller-specific accommodation such as group housing and halting sites. Ask the council's Traveller Accommodation section how your need will be assessed and recorded.

Each local authority must prepare a five-year programme for existing and projected Traveller accommodation needs. Ask what programme applies, what options exist locally and what evidence is required.
