Verified farming means test

Farm Assist estimate

An indicative 2026 family-rate calculation for a low-income farmer. It combines ordinary farm, employment, cash-income and non-farm capital means without storing your figures.

Use expected annual net farm income: gross farm and off-farm self-employed income minus expenses necessarily incurred. Do not include the farm itself as capital while it is being farmed.

Evidence and limits

Rule fa-2026.1 · effective 1 January 2026 · checked 8 September 2026. Net farm and other self-employed income is assessed at 70%. Employee income receives a €20 daily disregard for up to three days, then 60% is assessed. The published general capital bands apply to non-farm capital.

The result includes ordinary 2026 personal, qualified-adult and Child Support Payment rates. A deciding officer establishes expected farm profit and applies any scheme-specific exclusions.

Estimate only: The Department of Social Protection makes the final income, means and entitlement decision. Do not delay an application because of this result.
